The Ken Gordon School of Journalism and Communication Studies is focused on producing journalism and communication practitioners to serve the needs of local and regional media institutions. It is our goal to educate high quality media specialists who can meet the demands of modern journalism and communication practices locally, regionally and internationally. We aim to create and foster an environment where creative, analytical, critical and skilled media, public relations and advertising practitioners are born and nurtured.
The School comprises the Department of Journalism and Media, the Department of Communication Studies, a Media Centre and Research Institute.
The Media Centre will provide the practical training necessary for journalism and communication studies, which will ensure the work-readiness of the School’s graduates, a feature of the COSTAATT brand.
The Research Institute will provide the space and necessary support for faculty to engage in debates, discussions, scholarly research, innovation and creative thinking.
Vision
To be the school of choice for all students locally and, ultimately, regionally who are interested in pursuing relevant and ground-breaking studies in journalism, communication, media, graphic arts and advertising.
Mission
To lift media standards by providing a range of journalism, communication, graphic arts and advertising courses that will prepare students to be ethical, innovative and resourceful professionals capable of contributing to the transformation of media houses so that they become increasingly more globally competitive and recognized.
