The College of Science, Technology & Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT) invites suitably qualified persons to apply for the following position in the Technology Services Department:
Business Analyst
Key Responsibilities:
-
Interview customers to capture and document accurate business requirements.
-
Prepare business process mapping documents.
-
Analyze system integrations to identify possible areas of improvement and/or risk.
-
Prepare and submit for approval the initial project scope document which will include an approximate broad gauge cost estimate.
-
Prepare detailed functional and technical specifications that will include web page layout and navigation, business rules and data requirements.
-
Work with customers to develop business test plans, use case scenarios, and user acceptance plans.
-
Work with application development team members to design a technical solution that will meet the business needs of the customer.
-
Coordinate tasks with project managers and development team leaders to plan and manage resource workload ensuring all project obligations and objectives are met with respect to administrative systems.

Coordinate user testing, signoff and acceptance throughout the development lifecycle.
-
Work closely with various functional groups to troubleshoot and resolve related system issues in a timely manner.
-
Maintain thorough knowledge of current technology trends and advancements through self-learning or scheduled classroom training.
-
Participate in knowledge sharing and the IT mentoring program.
-
Other job functions may include small-scale application development, maintenance, or enhancement projects, support of client reporting, and any other responsibilities as assigned by the Team Leader or Director of Applications Services.
The successful candidate must have:

A Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a Computer related field.

A minimum of three (3) years experience in business/systems analysis.
-
A minimum of two (2) years experience designing and developing Oracle-based applications in a UNIX environment.
-
Knowledge and experience with Oracle 10g and above databases, SQL, SQL*Plus, PL/SQL.
-
Knowledge of higher education core business.
-
In-depth knowledge of Business Process Analysis/Re-engineering.
-
Experience in all phases of software development life cycle.
-
BPA Certification by evidence of certification.
-
Project Management training by evidence of certification.
-
Experience in working in a team that delivers a high availability service.
-
Demonstrated experience in establishing rapport and trust in order to build and maintain relationships with customers and colleagues.

Exceptional ability to think logically and problem solving.

Excellent business, technical, organizational, written and verbal communications skills.

Excellent time management skills.
