The College of Science, Technology & Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT) invites suitably qualified persons to apply for the following position in the Technology Services Department:
Web/Intranet Developer
Key Responsibilities:
-
Code HTML/DHTML and uploads pages on to the site, and integrates multimedia assets and applications into the site.

Assist with developing and maintaining a strategic plan for all sites, as well as a web presence, based on management priorities, policy directions, and goals.

Create enhancements and modifications to existing website;
-
Maintain cross-platform and cross-browser compatibility so that the web site is accessible from a variety of different environments.
-
Produce a consistent visual image on the site by promoting uniform fonts, formatting, icons, images, layout techniques, and modularization, including maintenance of template and image archives.
-
Determine appropriate compression techniques, resolutions, sizes, colour maps, and depths to ensure that images are delivered to the viewer at sufficiently high speed and quality.

Manage links and cross promotions with other sites, ensuring that links are up to date.

Update information in pages and databases so that content is kept current.
-
Check for bugs and problems; diagnose and fix them.

Analyze traffic statistics and report relevant information on a regular/monthly basis.

Integrate sites with other student and staff e-Resources such as electronic Library, College Management software as necessary
The successful candidate must have:
-
A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a Computer related field
-
At least 2 years’ Web Development experience
-
Familiarity with Windows/Linux/UNIX web servers, tools and web development environments/frameworks; Microsoft development tools an asset
-
Demonstrated skills in Graphic Design and Adobe web technologies (Photoshop, Flash, Acrobat Pro, Fireworks, and Dreamweaver)

Experience with HTML/XHTML/XML, ASP.Net, CSS, DOM, PHP, Java/JavaScript, AJAX, other server/client-side scripting technologies

Experience with Database technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle or other
-
Working knowledge of basic composition, page layout, art and presentation packages such as Front Page, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, QuarkXPress, PageMaker, and Illustrator

Strong design sense along with a methodical attention to detail.

Ability to work as team member and independently with minimal supervision
-
Knowledge of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) or other Content Management System will be an asset

Experience in working in a team that delivers a high availability service.

Demonstrated experience establishing rapport and trust in order to build and maintain relationships with customers and colleagues.
