COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course introduces the fundamentals of a computer system and will expose the students to such topics as: the instruction/execution cycle, CPU, Memory types, Input/Output. We will discuss basic constructs and concepts of computer hardware and software including binary and hexadecimal number systems and arithmetic; Boolean algebra, gates, Truth tables, circuit diagrams. This is a foundation course which provides the skills for subsequent courses. It provides an overview of Information Technology and how it relates to the way we work, play, study and live.
