COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is an intermediate level to conversational Spanish that aims at developing functional skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing as required for interaction formally and informally with native speakers. The course seeks to equip participants with specific language skills while developing an awareness of the target culture so as to meet a number of basic survival needs. These include completing basic transactions at a restaurant or when purchasing food, talking about likes and dislikes, talking about desires, and preferences, talking about hobbies and leisure activities, talking about the weather and the seasons, weekly routines, discussing preferences, obligations, plans and future plans, describing actions in progress as well as people, places and things, talking about daily routines and healthy lifestyle habits, talking about what you have just done, describing how actions take place, talking about your and other’s careers, discussing actions in the past and describing objects.  Focus is placed on the development of oral and aural skills.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants seeking admissions to this short course must be sixteen (16) years and over.
