Chaguanas, Trinidad and Tobago, October 9th, 2023 –The College of Science, Technology, and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT), is pleased to announce the signing of an agreement with Fortinet, a global cybersecurity leader driving the convergence of networking and security, to be the first education institution in the country to join the Fortinet Academic Partner Program. This agreement is set to significantly enhance the educational and career prospects of COSTAATT students and fits in perfectly as October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

The Fortinet Academic Partner Program works with 600 academic institutions around the world to create a more diverse, equitable and inclusive cybersecurity workforce. It bridges the gap between learning and careers through access to industry-recognized Fortinet NSE training and certification courses to help learners become part of an elite group of skilled cybersecurity professionals.

The official signing ceremony took place at the COSTAATT Chaguanas Campus at 10:00 am on October 5th, 2023. Present at the event were key reps at Fortinet, Rodney Murally (Regional Sales Manager), Devanand Ramsingh (Major Account Manager), and Kristerbella Sookdeo (Territory Account Manager Renewals & Advanced Services). Under the agreement, enrolled COSTAATT students get free access to an extensive suite of industry-recognized cybersecurity training and workshops. These resources will culminate in the globally-recognized, NSE 4 Network Security Professional certification, provided by Fortinet. Traditionally, this paid certification would be pursued post-graduation; however, COSTAATT students will now have the distinct advantage of pursuing it during their academic journey.

Dr. Keith Nurse, President of COSTAATT, expressed his enthusiasm for this innovative partnership, stating that the initiative aligns seamlessly with the College’s new strategic direction, focusing on digital transformation—an essential element for expanding and diversifying the economy.
